WEATHER REPORTS.
MISSED BY MARINERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 2. It has been the custom of the Meteorological Department to send out by Morse code a 1 weather report at 9 a.nv, but for reasons of economy this practice is being discontinued. This is complained of by mariners, who say it will be much missed. It is true, they say, it is radioed out by the speech stations, but ships may not be able to pick this up. The value of the Morse message is emphasised, as against the very small saving its discontinuance can possibly effect, and one master mariner places in contrast the value to the Meteorological Department of weather messages sent free by ships themselves.
