Withers will be In charge of the starting of the competition. VICTORIA LODOE No. 18. The fortnightly meeting of Victoria Lodge was held on Monday night, Bro. P. Russell, N.G., presiding over a good attendance of brothers. 'Two candidates were ballotted for, and accepted as members. The N.O. reported having his team ready for the initiation at Temuka. Accounts amounting to £66 were passed for payment, and five brothers were reported on the sick list, while one was declared off. Bro. E. Turner reported on the card match against Raukapuka, and he was asked to organise a team for a return match. An Invitation was accepted from Waihi Lodge to an open night. The N.G. welcomed Bro. P. Fyfe back again to the Lodge, after a long absence. Bro. Fyfe replied. HOCKEY. The following players will represent Union, to play Temuka, at Geraldine, on Thursday, at 3 p.m.:—E. Turner, : M. Readdie, the Geraldine County Clerk, is at present attending the County Clerks’ Conference in Wellington. Mr and Mrs Alan Plthie, “Croftlea,’’ Hinds Road, are spending a holiday in Australia. Mrs Valentine has returned from a holiday at Peel Forest. Mrs C. J. Kerr, of Geraldine, Is at present In Christchurch. Residents throughout South Canterbury will be pleased to learn that after a period of recuperation In Christchurch, the Ven. Archdeacon H. Purchas is expected to return to Geraldine to-morrow. He will preach at St. Mary’s, Geraldine, on Sunday. Mr and Mrs H. Russell, of Geraldine, have been visiting Christchurch. Mr T. Irving, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine, is on annual leave, and is visiting Invercargill. He is being relieved by Mr W. Lewitt, who has been relieving at the Kalapoi branch. THREE HUNDRED ODD HARES. In order to raise further funds for the building of a hall on Rangltata Island, a hare drive was organised by members of the committee. The day's sport produced a bag of 343 hares. WJE.A. CLASSES. | The Shaw play, “You Never Can 1 Tell,” was taken as a subject at the Geraldine W.E.A. Classes on Monday evening. They have arranged a night of opera with Gounod’s “Faust” next week. FINE WEATHER AGAIN. Following rain showers In the early hours of yesterday morning, the clouds cleared away, and fine weather was experienced. The temperature was I low throughout the day, and frosty conditions prevailed last evening.
