TEMUKA.

FOOTBALL. Playing on the Domain on Saturday, Temuka fifths drew with High School A. East scored for School early in the game, and this was equalised when Sherbone cut in from a lineout and scored near the corner. SUNSHINE AND RAIN. Saturday was a beautiful day in Temuka, a hard frost (seven degrees), being followed by a day of bright sunshine. The general opinion was that the frost was heavier than on the previous day. but this was not the case, as this reading was ten degrees. In some houses water pipes were frozen and no doubt Friday’s frost helped in this direction. The town was not destined to enjoy a fine week-end, however, as yesterday brought forth a thick drizzling rain, interspersed with fairly heavy showers, which promised to continue throughout the day. LAX MOTORISTS. At mid-day on Saturday the number of motor vehicles re-licensed at Temuka Post Office had not reached 550. The total number to be licensed in the district is 800. so that unless the 250 outstanding flocked to the Post Office during the afternoon it is safe to assume that there will be a number of cars still bearing the old plates to-day. HILTON. The Hilton Miniature Rifle Club hela its weekly shoot on Friday night for a trophy donated by Mr E. Parker, this being won in the shoot off by E. Johnson with 79 off the rifle. Other scores were:—A. Cornelius 79, L. Beattie 79, M. Leary 79, D. A. Scott 79, G. Summerfield 79, T. Beaven 79, W. Ferguson 78, W. Scott 78. A. Johnson 78, J. Hogg 77, W. Johnson 77, W. Patrick 76, B. Patrick 76, A. Patrick 76, F. Palmer 76, J. Charles 76.

For the previous trophy donated by Mr W. Taylor, W. Patrick won with 80 off the rifle.
