TIMARU CLUB’S OPENING RUN. Ideal weather, combined with excellent running conditions, featured the opening of the Timaru Harrier Club’s season from the Bay pavilion on Saturday, when a good muster of runners, under, the whistle of J. Eaton, had an enjoyable run over a four-mile course. The trail started from the Bay, and led over Benvenue Cliffs, past the white bridge at Waimataitai. The Smithfield freezing works were next passed, then a turn was made to the left., and the Main. North Road was •mi rd. Tixe course then led through the show grounds and home. The pack, which was comprised of a fair number of novice runners, performed very creditably. In a good run home, T. O'Leary managed to arrive first, with A. Caithness a good second. After the run the members were the guests of Mr C. W. Cameron at afternoon-tea. Mr Eaton suitably returned thanks on behalf of the Club.
