ASHWICK FLAT.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OCCASIONAL NOTES. ANZAC DAY. Another Anzac Day has passed, reviving memories of stirring war days and bringing home to us once more the sacrifices that our soldiers made. Today wreaths have been placed on our memorial showing that it is something more than mortar and stone; that lu brings back to all for which our soldiers suffered and points to a higher and better way for nations to, settle their disputes. May each in his own way do all in his power to strengthen the cause of the League of Nations, and bring nearer the day when right shall prevail over might and justice shall reign in place of arms. AUTUMN WEATHER. Lovely autumn weather is now being experienced, enabling all farm work to be pushed on with. Threshing returns indicate that good results have in many cases been obtained—in one case 67 bushels per acre, while others of 40, 52 and 38 show that the average for this district should be above average, for Canterbury. A good acreage of wheat is being sown, and should go in in good order. Days are getting shorter now and Sidey time would seem to be of more use to us now than in the long summer days—that is, for the worker who wants to "get things done.” FATRLIE SHOW. The Fairlie Show is once again a thing of the past, and but for tht» damp day was a great success as usual. The Show provides an Interesting day for the onlooker, and the thanks of the public are due to those who put such an amount of time and skill into this work. The riding exhibitions proved of much interest, and reflected the time and patience that had been spent on them.
