GLEN-ITI .SCHOOL.

PRESENTATION TO DEPARTING TEACHER. Under the auspices of the Glen-iti School Committee and residents of the district, an enjoyable social function was held in the schoolroom on Saturday evening last, the occasion being the farewelling of Miss Stewart, who for the past few years has been infant mistress. A large and representative gathering of parents and pupils turned out to honour the guest. Previous to the presentation, a short programme of vocal, instrumental and elocutionary items were rendered to the enjoyment of all by the following artists: —Miss Catter, Mrs Finlay, Master Claude Goulding, Messrs Finlay, Payne, Vernon and Curr. The chairman presented Miss Stewart with a handsome week-end companion on behalf of the residents; at the same time expressing regret at the loss of such a faithful and competent teacher. Mr Winnington and Mr Curr also spoke in eulogistic terms. On behalf of the pupils Annie Arnich presented Miss Stewart with a handsome fountain pen. while Agnes Pearce presented a pretty bouquet. Miss Stewart liaving suitably replied, the company rose and sang “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Supper was then served by the ladies, after which the floor was cleared for dancing, which was indulged in till a late hour. Votes of thanks were then accorded by Mr McArthur to all those who helped to make the function a success.
