ISHBEL LIKES LONG SKIRTS
CHOCOLATE PREFERRED. It is quite evident that Miss Ishbel MacDonald is one of those who prefer long skirts, for her coats and afternoon frocks reach mid-way between her knee and ankle as a rule. For Mrs Dawe's tea party at the American Embassy, remarks a correspondent, she wore a long blue coat, and hat pulled over her eyes to match, and was probably the only woman L. the room with no fur either in the shape of a collar or a stole. Mrs Baldwin, who is starting her At Homes again, wore a sable coat. Madame de Fleuriau had a Persian lamb one. These coats are still very popular. The most delicious foaming hot chocolate, poured out of big tea urns, was preferred by nearly everyone to tea at this party. Mrs Dawes had collected a number of friends to pour out for her at tea tables placed in the four corners cf the ballroom so that there was no crush round a long buffet. Tablecloths with exquisite pieces of lace inset, which are Embassy treasures, were used on the tables. Mrs Glasgow, of Moncorvo House, who always had hot chocolate at her tea-parties, brought her pretty little daughter Marjorie, who, now that Lady Lettice Lygon is to be married, hold the record for the number of times she has been a bridesmaid.
