April 24. in the opening match of the AngloGerman Davis Cup tie, at Queen's Club. Doctoch Landmann (Germany) beat H. W. Austin (England! 6-3, <’-6, 5-7, 4-6. 6-4. The other singles match was unfinished owing to the failing light. Prenn (Germany) is leading Lee (England) 6-4. 7-9, 6-3. The Austinl andmann match resolved itself mto a contest of youth versus staying power. The old complaints of cramp added to the Englishman's difficulties. Showers interfered with both matches.
