COMPETITIONS OPEN TO-DAY. The South Canterbury Rugby Union’s competitions for 1930 will commence this afternoon in all five grades. There wall be two senior games at Fraser Park —Star v. Celtic, and Old Boys v. Zingari, with the customary curtainraisers provided by lower grade fifteens. It has been decided that, except under special circumstances, no cars will be admitted to the grounds, and bicycles also are to be barred entrance. Cyclists may park their machines, at their own risk, in the Union’s vacant sections off Otipua Road. Season tickets (£l/1/- for men and 15/- for ladies) are now on sale, and these will admit the holders to all club and representative matches, in addition to the seven-a-side tourney, to be played in Timaru during the season. The only exception will be the game, with the British team, which is controlled by the New Zealand Union. It has been decided to again publish an illustrated programme, which will contain special features for each club and interprovincial game, and should meet a ready sale. TEAMS FOR TO-DAY.
