BASIC WAGE.
ADJUSTMENT IN AUSTRALIA. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 25, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 25. Following the quarterly adjustment of the cost of living figures, the basic wage level has fallen by from 3/weekly for clothing trade employees and clerks, to 5/6 for wharf labourers. The saving to the employers in New South Wales is estimated at about £500,000 per annum, the railways alone amounting to £320,000.
