TOLL OF THE CAR. By Telegraph—Pres* WELLINGTON, April 15. Jack Gribben (22), who lives at Hobart Street, Miramar, was knocked down by a motor-car in Kilbirnie this evening, and admitted to the public hospital at 7.45, with a fractured skull. He died two hours’ later. DEATH FROM BULLET WOUND. By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, April 15. An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Harry John Foley, a single man aged 27 years, who died” on April Ist, as a result of a bullet wound in the head, was held to-day. A brother of deceased said deceased did not appear to have had any worries. He had been somewhat careless with his rifle on previous occasions. The coroner found that deceased died as a result of a bullet wound, but that there was no evidence to show how the wound came to be inflicted.

MOHAMEDAN SEAMAN’S DEATH. By relegraph—Press Association. WESTPORT, April 15. Abdul Berrick, employed as a lamp trimmer on the S.S. Roseric, fell from the ’tween deck to the bottom of a hold when the vessel was 18 miles off Westport. On the vessel’s arrival in the roadstead a doctor was signalled for, and the injured man was attended to. He was subsequently admitted to hospital, where he died at 7.30 on Monday evening. At the inquest to-day a verdict was returned that death was caused by a fracture of the skull, accidentally caused. The burial, with Mohamedan rites, took place at Oawaiti Cemetery to-day, in the presence of about 60 of deceased’s countrymen.
