FAT SALE ABANDONED. Owing to the unsettled state of affairs at the freezing works, and the inability of buyers to handle mere sheep at present, the fat sheep sale that was scheduled to take place at Geraldine yesterday afternoon v r as abandoned. Bank of New South Wales, Hamilton, is on his annual holidays, and is the guest of Mrs T. Sherratt, “Atherstone,” Mrs H: Sharp, her small son and Miss Kathleen Sharp, who have been spending a holiday with Mrs T. Sherratt, “Atherstone,” Geraldine, left on Saturday for Wellington. EASTER HOLIDAYS. Business establishments in Geraldine will observe Thursday night as late night this week, and will remain si ut for Easter until Tuesday morning. Thursday of next week will be regarded as an ordinary working day by the shops, instead of a half-holiday, and Anzac Day (Friday), will be observed as a Sunday. Banking institutions will dfosc on Thursday evening, and will not reopen till Tuesday morning. Wednesday, St. George’s Day. will be observed as a holiday, and Friday, Anzac Day, vill be observed as a Sunday. Sports fixtures for Easter include a Town v. Country football match on Easter Saturday, and a cricket match with Luttrell’s eleven on Easter Monday. Saturday will be regarded as cn open day on the golf links. Hotels and boarding establisnments report heavy bookings for Easter, and a.l indications point to a large influx of visitors for the holiday period.
