Amending: Constitution. AUSTRALIA PROPOSES REFERENDUM. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 10. 8.30 p.m.) The Federal Government’s three Referendum Bills, providing for complete power to amend the Constitution for power to control industrial affairs, and control over trade and commerce, all passed their second reading. The electors were not prepared to allow the Federal Government to dynamite the Constitution. Rather would West Australia and Tasmania prefer that the Federal Parliament be abolished.
