RAINFALL FIGURES. Rainfall registered at various parts of South Canterbury during March, was as follows — Mr D. N. Harper, curator, Timaru Park. —The total for March was l.OGin. with rain on 9 days. The heaviest fall, ,59ins. was on March 3. There were 181.4 hours of sunshine, an average of 5.8 hours per day. There were four sunless days, and the maximum sunshine, for one day, was 11.5 hours on March 8. Mr R. T. Searles, Levels: Rain fell on 9 days, the heaviest fall, .40ins. being on March 3 The total for the month was 1.13in. H. W. Bishop, Lyalldale: The total for March was .73ins. Rain fell on seven days, the heaviest fall being .35ins. on March 3. Mr G. L. White, Winchester: The total was I.34ins. (3.04 last March), with rain on seven days (ten). For the year to date, the total fall is 10.13 ins. (5.12in.). Maimum shade temperature, 87 on March 17 (84); minimum 36 (37); average of maxima, 68.2 (69.5) average of mininima 46.7 (49.8); mean temperature for the month 57.4 (59.6)
Mr J. O. H. Tripp, “Glen-Cary” Station, Hakataramea: There was rain on two days, totalling .12ins. The heaviest fall, ,7ins. was on March 3. Mr M. G. Williams, Geraldine Downs: The rainfall for March totalled I.l6ins. Rain fell on seven days, the heaviest fall, .54ins, being on March 3. In March last year the total was 2.7oins. Mr S. Wooffindin. Pleasant Point: Rain fell on seven days, the heaviest fall being on March 4. when .35 ins. were recorded. The total for the month was .79ins.
Mr A. J. Blakiston, Orari Gorge: The total was 1.80 ins., with rain on 13 days. The maximum fall was .631*. on March 3. In March last year there was rain on 13 days also, and the total was 4.o6ins. .
Mr G. L. Twentyman, Seadown: During March rain fell on ten days, with a total of 1.42 irs. The heaviest fall was .41ins. on March 3.
