The Premier (Mr Bavin) gave the Legislative Assembly an opportunity oi discussing the economic situation today. He launched the proposals for a return to the forty-eight hours in all industries a tax on wages, to provide a fund for unemployeds, reduction of salaries of public servants. Mr Lang (Labour leader) challenged the Government to go to the country upon these issues at once. The debate was acrimonious.
