RIFLE SHOOTING

TIMARU DEFENCE CLUB. The Timaru Defence Rifle Club held its weekly shoot on Saturday afternoon on the Temuka range. The conditions for the day were 15 shots at 300 yards. As well as the ordinary match there was a consolation match for those who had not won a prize during the season. The week’s match was won by Rifleman G. Carmichael, who was only a point short of being top score off the rifle, and seven points handicap left him in a very safe position. Rifleman H. Hopkins was top score off the rifle, and his handicap of five put him into second place. The Consolation Match was won by Rifleman W. Finlay, with Rifleman Len Smith second. The next Saturday shoot will be the last of the season, and will be 10 shots at 500. The following are the particulars of
