SUPPORT FOR ALLIANCE.
DUNEDIN UNIONISTS’ RESOLUTION. By Telegrapb —Prsw Association. DUNEDIN, April 8. In an address last night, Mr Arthur Cook, National President of the Alliance of Labour, dealt with workers’ compensation, and explained the Alliance attitude to the Compensation Committee inquiry. Mr Roberts, Alliance secretary, also addressed the meeting on the right of the worker to employment Or sustenance. It was resolved: “That this meeting of Dunedin trade unionists endorses the Alliance action in refusing to cooperate with the Committee as the Government should have consulted Trade Unions in the appointment of a workers’ representative." UNIONS SHOULD BE CONSULTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. The following resolution was carried by an overwhelming majority at a meeting of Trades Unionists, after hearing addresses by Messrs F. A. Cook and James Roberts, representing the Alliance of Labour:— “That this meeting of Christchurch Trade Unionists, endorses the action oi the New Zealand Alliance of Labour in refusing to co-operate with the Committee appointed by the Government to take evidence and report on the Workers’ Compensation Act, as in the opinion of organised workers the Government should have consulted Trade Unions in the appointment of representatives of the workers to this important Committee.”
