SOCIAL NOTES.

Miss Betty Crawford, of England, is staying with Mrs C. Kain, Geraldine. Mrs C. F. Hamilton (“Ashwick”), is staying at the Grand for a few days. Miss M. R. Menzies, Christchurch, arrived yesterday to spend a few days at the Grand.

Miss Peggy Hunter-Weston (“Mount John”), motored to Timaru on Saturday, and has since returned home. Mr and Mrs Phillips, Pleasant Point, who spent a few days in Timaru, have returned to their home. Mrs R. Rich, “The Rock.” has returned to Cave after a visit to Christchurch.

Mr and Mrs H. Orbell, who spent a few days at the Grand, has motored home, accompanied by Miss Loraine Orbell (Waikouaiti).

Lord Waleran, England, who has been the guest of Mrs Howard Tripp, of Wai-iti Road, left yesterday for Australia,'en route for England. Mr and Mrs Dampier-Crossley (Rotherham), motored back to North Canterbury on Sunday, accompanied by Mrs Rutherford, Hanmer. Mrs J. H. Pennington, Dunedin, Mrs A. E. Alexander, Dunedin, are spending a holiday in Timaru, and are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs James Innes, Haldon Station, will motor home to-day after a short visit to Timaru spent at the Grosvenor.

Captain R. Burdon, Woodbury, who was the guest of Mrs Herbert Elworthy, “Craigmore,” for the races, has returned home.

Miss Nan Cossins, “Ardnaquere,” 'Wai-iti Road, is staying with Miss June Batchelor, of Dunedin, for a few days. Mrs C. A. Paterson, of Sefton Street, left yesterday to spend some days in Dunedin, where she will be the guest of Miss June Batchelor.

Dr. and Mrs P. R. Woodhouse, Bluecliffs, who were in Timaru for the races on Saturday, have returned to their home.

Mr and Mrs Godfrey Hall, Hororata, who were guests at the Grand for the Timaru races, motored home on Sunday. WEDDING. KEENAN—FRASER. A pretty wedding was recently solemnised by the Rev. W. McNeur, in the Highfield Presbyterian Church, the contracting parties being Eleri Jane, third daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Fraser, Rosewill, and. William, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Keenan, Edinburgh, Scotland. Mr Mclnnes presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with a profusion of pink and blue flowers. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a becoming frock of shell pink foile de soie, beautifully hand-embroidered, the bodice being slightly pouched with long-fitting sleeves pointed over the hands. The flared skirt had an uneven hemline. A beautiful pink tulle veil embroidered with silver bells was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, with this was worn silver shoes and stockings to match. The bouquet consisted of pink carnations, roses, and maiden-hair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Freda Fraser, of Wellington, a dainty frock of delphinium blue georgette, made with a hip yoke and pin-tucked bodice with long fitting sleeves finished at the wrist with a band of pin tucks and handkerchief cuffs. The skirt was made with inset flares forming an uneven hemline. At the waist and shoulder two diamante buckles were worn. Blonde satin shoes, with hat to match, and a bouquet of hothouse flowers completed a most attractive toilette. Mr Leslie Hunt, nephew of the bridegroom, attended as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bridesmaid was a gold-initialled signet ring. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Stafford. The bride’s mother received her guests wearing a very smart silk coat and a black silk hat relieved with a French posy. She carried a bouquet of apricot roses and maiden hair fern. The bride and bridefr/im. left amidst showers of confetti for the North Island, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride wore a frock of blue crepe satin relieved with biege and hat to tone, and carried a navy silk coat finished with shirred collar and cuffs.
