RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the executive of the Ratepayers’ and Householders’ Association was held in the West School on Saturday evening, when there was a good attendance of members. On the motion of Messrs Chiles and Howden, the secretary was instructed to congratulate the Borough Council on | the good work done during the year in the matter of tar-sealing streets, grading and cleaning up footpaths. Nov/ that the paddling pool, swings, etc., constructed in West End Park have been completed, it was decided to hand them over to the custody of the Council, and to invite the Mayor and Councillors to a small function for the purpose of taking them over at a date to be arranged. The account for the cost of the work was passed for payment, members expressing themselves pleased with the good work done by Messrs Stoddart and Mitchell. The secretary was authorised to write to the Post and Telegraph Department, asking for better posting facilities at the new office at Highfield. The secretary’s action in paying over to the Council the promised subsidy on the forming of entrance to West End baths from Maltby Avenue was approved.

It was decided to thank Mr D. Mills for the gift of a bag of narcissi bulbs.
