OBITUARY.

THOMAS T. RITCHIE. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN. Aril 6. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Thomas Thomson Ritchie. a member of the firm of Waters. Ritchie and Co. Deceased, who was well-known in business circles, and also as owner and breeder of several trotting horses, was in his 60th year. MR FREDERICK MARTIN. The death occurred in Christchurch yesterday, with tragic suddenness, of a well-known resident of Timaru, Mr F. C. Martin, who was spending a holiday in the city with Mrs Martin. Mr i Martin was overtaken by a seizure while travelling in a tram, and was dead before he could be taken to a private hospital nearby. The late Mr Martin came from England many years ago. and for many years held a responsible position with Messrs J. Ballantyne and Co. in Christchurch. About 1914 he retired from the business, and went to England on a holiday trip. While there he met Mr Ballantyne, who brought him back to take charge of the Timaru establishment, and he occupied the position of manager here until about five years ago, when he retired from business, and after a trip to England settled in Timaru. In 1918 Mr Martin was married to Miss Jessie Morrison, a member of an old Timaru family, and a year or two ago purchased a home in Sarah Street. Mr Martin was a prominent member of the Timaru Bowling Club, the South Canterbury Savage Club, and other institutions in the town.
