FIFTY YEARS HENCE.
DAY OF TELEGRAPH PASSING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received, April 6 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 6. Mr M. Laird, superintendent of the Telegraph Department here, who is retiring after fifty-two years service, predicts that there will be no telegraph at all at the end of the next fifty years, because it will be superseded by telephone and wireless.
