GOLDEN NET CURTAINS

WHEN THEIR CHARM LESSENS Plain curtains of net are very popular in these days, especially in the attractive golden tint that produces a first-class imitation of sunlight. But they are apt to lose their charm after the first laundering unless they are very carefully dried. Haphazard drying produces hems like a switchback. The surest method of ensuring straight hems is to run a thin cane through the hems at the top and bottom before hanging out to dry. This, with a little gentle pulling into shape while they are still wet, will keep them a good t shape. t An alternative method is to iron j while still wet without hanging out at j, all. After they have been put through j thin hot water starch they should be l shaken to free the holes in the net g from starch, wrung, and then gently f pulled out with the fingers, rolled up € in a towel and allowed to remain for a an hour before ironing. Plain net c should be ironed dry on the wrong side. Spotted or patterned net should - £ be ironed on the wrong side also, but c on a very much thicker ironing blank- j et, so that the pattern stands out well.
