LINSEED PRICES. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 2nd instant, from Calcutta, with reference to the linseed market: —“We quote £lB/5/- for linseed per ton c. and f. Sydney, for immediate shipment; market steady.” DUNEDIN WEEK-END REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 4. The threshing of wheat out of the stook continues in most districts, but where the mills are not available, farmers have perforce to stack their grain. Deliveries are of good quality, and millers state that, with few exceptions the present season’s wheat is the best that has been harvested for many years. Some farmers have harvested crops, and in the Tokomairiro district up to 70 bushels of Tuscan per acre has been garnered. On the other hand, some of the late-sown wheat is returning poor yields. Prices for free wheat remain unchanged. These are equivalent to those for Pool wheat, which are 6/3 f.0.b., sacks extra, for Tuscan, 6/5 for Hunters, and 6/7 for Velvet. Favourable weather for threshing is reducing the offerings of fowl wheat, as the crops are mostly of milling quality. The current quotation is 6/-, sacks in, ex truck. The oat market firmed slightly during the week, some exceptionally high yields are reported, and up to 100 bushels to the acre has been obtained. Although the market is firmer, there is no quotable change in prices. These are 3/1, sacks extra, on trucks, for A Grade Gartons, and 2/11 for B’s. The shipping quotations are 3/9£ f.0.b., s.i., for A’s and 3/8 for B'j. The potato market is over-supplied. The value of choice quality is £5/10/per ton, sacks included, ex truck, Dunedin. The yields are good, and up to the present there is not a great deal of blight showing. The chaff market continues quiet. The demand from Feeders is small. Choice quality are worth £5/10/-, sacks included, ex truck, Dunedin, that is when buyers can be found. This price is equivalent to £6, sacks extra ex store. The seeds market is quiet, and no change in any of the lines. CHRISTCHURCH MARKET REPORT. GRAIN, SEEDS AND ROOTS. By Telegraph—Press AaMdatlon. CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. The prolonged spell of dry weather is having its effect in values, and offerings are few, especially in oats, of which a large quantity is being kept in stack as a standby in case feed is short in winter. Although there is a little steadying-up apparent in wheat value, there is the usual lull between stookthreshing and stack-threshing. Values remain unaltered, and quotations are 5/8 on trucks for Tuscan, 5/10 to 5/11 for Hunters and 6/2 for Pearl. Fowl wheat is still scarce, and values are unchanged. There are practically no oats offering, and there is very little in store. Quotations are a shade

easier, being now 3/9h for A Grade Gartons for spread delivery, April-Sep-tember. B’s are worth 3/8 to 3/Bi. Sellers, however, are being supplied from the stocks of southern merchants. In the chaff market, values are much the same. Sellers’ ideas of values are £6/12/6, f.0.b.5.i., while that of buyers is £6/10/-.

The potato market is still very weak, and “prompts” are as sick as they can be. April-June have sold at 90/-, and July-September at £5/10/-. There are f inquiries for July’s at 97/6, but there are no sellers under £5. The price to farmers is from £3/5/- to £3/10/- on trucks. Partridge peas are offering freely, but the quality is still doubtful. No 16’s are quoted at 4/2 to 4/3 on trucks, and f.a.q. at about 6d less. The onion market has collapsed. The lowest local quotation is £2 on trucks. There is very little grass seed offering, and little inquiry. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE. TO-DAY’S QUOTATIONS.
