LORRY WRECKED. By Telefirach—Pres* .Association. GISBORNE, March 17. A crossing smash occurred this morning on King’s Road, when a lorry driven by Kenneth Stephens was struck by a train and completely smashed. The driver escaped with head injuries which proved not to be serious, though the cab of the lorry was reduced to splinters. The engine of the train was damaged by the impact, but was able to continue townwards on its journey. CARTER’S NECK BROKEN. By Telegraph—Pres* -Association. AUCKLAND. March 17. Louis Ramsbottom, employed carting by the Public Works Department, was found dead between Warkworth and Wellsford, under the cab of his vehicle. Apparently his neck was broken. Michael Murphy (23), staying at a hotel in Master ton, was found yesterday morning by his room mate with his wrist cut apparently with a razor. He was removed to the Masterton nosnital. Murphy is a single man and has not long been in Masterton.
