THE WEATHER.
Dominion Meteorologist. There was a slight rise of pressure to-day over New Zealand, following the passage eastward of a depression of the westerly type. Another depression is approaching from the Tasman Sea, and barometers will fall again shortly. Expect winds northerly and moderate at first, but freshening Seas rather rough about Cook and Fouveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Weather mainly fair, but some scattered showers later; more especially in western and southern portions of the South Island. Temperatures mild.
