One of the most enjoyable of the weekly dances of the Scottish Society took place on Saturday, when the hall was filled with patrons. The popularity of this function was evident by the large number of motor-cars in the vicinity of Barnard Street, country as well as town patrons being present. The programme of dance music went with a swing and encore numbers were the order of the evening. The spot light and rainbow dances provided a feast of colour; the dazzling effects on the many beautiful costumes of the ladies being most picturesque. It was noticeable that most of the men had "donned” flannels, in keeping with the atmospheric conditions which prevailed. The wheel dance was again the big attraction, and floor space was at a premium. Mr and Mrs Maclaren, of Timaru (who have won on several occasions) again had the luck to strike the winning number:—Four hours entertainment soon passed, there beimr not a few present w-ho favoured putting back the clock early and reverting to normal time.
