WOODVILLE DISTRICT JOCKEY CLUB. TOXEUMA WINS BIQ RACE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WOODVILLE, February 20. The weather was fine but dull for the second day of the Woodville races. There was again a large attendance, and the racing was interesting throughout. Toxeuma won the principal race with comparative ease. The totalisator put through £15,825, making a total of £33.166 for the meeting, an increase of £3349 over last year. Results:—

RICCARTON NEWS. (Bpecial to the “Herald.'*) CHRISTCHURCH, February 20. The weather was cold at Riccarton this morning. A light shower fell just before five o’clock, but it did not last long. Some interesting work was accomplished by candidates for the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting. Gay Crest opened by covering six furlongs in lmin 146 3-ssec, finishing in front of Arikiwai, who joined in for the last half-mile, which was run in 51sec. Winsome Hind sprinted half a mile . in 49 3-ssec. ' , 1 Don Jose, with Pixie Gold as a J mate for the last half-mile, covered : seven furlongs on the plough in lmin ! 30 2-ssec. Don Jose finished well. J Dutch Money got to the end of six furlongs on the plough in lmin 17 4-5 J sec, and was going well at the end. 1 Starshooter and Netley covered six ( furlongs on the plough in lmin 19 2-5 £ sec. Swiftray and Greenaway were not hurried while doing six furlongs in lmin 19 2-ssec. Proud Knight registered lmin 4 2-5 sec for five furlongs and was going well at the end. Rapina beat Miss Bradbury easily in a smart half mile sprint. Leader and The Viscount were on terms at the end of six furlongs on the plough, run in lmin 20 l-6sec. Sea Gay occupied lmin 37sec for seven furlongs on the plough. Red Heckle and Flair reeled off half a mile up the back in 49 2-ssec. They carried light weights, but it was a smart effort. Aspiring and Lord Thomond went out together, but Lord Thomond broke away after passing the mile post and went on at a sound pace. Aspiring was left to gallop home alone and she rattled over five furlongs in lmin 2 3-5 sec. She carried a light boy, but showed great brilliancy. Topere and Amor were associated over seven furlongs on the plough. They kept together all the way. Amor having a neck advantage at the finish. The first half mile occupied 51 . l-ssec and the full journey was done , in lmin 31 3-ssec. There was nothing to choose between 1 Chickwheat and Quarterdeck at the end of a mile on the plough, which occupied lmin 48sec. Hoylake covered six furlongs on the plough in lmin 18 l-ssec, snd seemed anxious to go on further. L Flaxbind drew clear of Poetess and 2 was going easily at the end of half a 3 mile, run in 52 3-ssec. Tariff sprinted three furlongs on the plought smartly in 37sec. Haze beat Master Clearence over six furlongs on the plough in lmin 18 3-ssec. Nightmarch had True Shaft as a mate in a half mile sprint up the 2 back, in 49sec, a smart effort. 2 Ranelagh was going well at the end 3 of a half mile sprint up the back a with Sea Raid, run in 49 4-ssec. Pahautanui occupied 52 2-ssec for a _ half mile sprint up the back. Solgele covered six furlongs in lmin 17 3-ssec, a smart performance, as he went off slowly. Miss Nightraid and Weather Raid 1 ran five furlongs up the back in lmin 2 4sec. Arrowmir, with a mate to bring him 6 home over the last two furlongs, registered lmin lsec for five furlongs, the !r last half-mile in 48sec. It was a brilliant effort.
