REMAINING AT ROTORUA.
SIR JOSEPH WARD NOT ATTENDING TO-DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 20. An announcement was made to-day by the Minister of Lands (Hon. G. W. Forbes) that the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) will not attend tomorrow’s conference of the United Party, as it will only be a preliminary gathering, leading to a more comprehensive meeting to be held at a later date. The present meeting, he said, was to discuss arrangements necessitated by recent changes in the United Party organisation. “Under these circumstances,” added Mr Forbes, “the Prime Minister has agreed with the advice of his friends that he should continue without any interruption his treatment at Rotorua, which is showing such beneficial results. “I shall proceed to Rotorua later to discuss with Sir Joseph the result of this week's Party conference.”
