NOTES. The Waipiata arrived from Dunedin yesterday, and lifted general cargo for Wellington and Auckland. The Storm and the Progress arrived at this port yesterday from Oamaru, and loaded for their usual northern ports. .The Breeze is not due until Monday next, when she will take on shipments for Wellington and Wanganui. 'From Dunedin and Oamaru, to pick up cargo at Timaru for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, the Kahika is listed to arrive here about February 27. The Calm is scheduled to call here on February 26, to ship cargo for Wellington and Wanganui. To discharge Auckland cargo, and load for Wellington and Auckland, the Wingatui is due at Timaru on February 26. Overseas. The Port Denison arrived yesterday from Port Chalmers, and loaded frozen meat and wool for Home ports. She is expected to sail to-morrow for overseas ports, via Lyttelton. The Golden Cloud, from Dunedin, arrived yesterday morning, and after taking on general cargo, sailed last evening for Lyttelton. The Canadian Challenger arrived at Timaru yesterday, and is discharging general American cargo. She will load wool and general cargo for New York, Boston and Halifax, and should sail via Lyttelton to-morrow. The Coptic, from Wellington, is expected to-day, ’to load frozen meat and general cargo for Home ports. To load for overseas ports, the Anglo-Canadian is listed to arrive at Timaru to-day. The Westmoreland, from Wellington, is scheduled to arrive here on Monday next. She will load general merchandise for London, and will also discharge a quantity of cargo here. She will sail finally for Home ports from Wellington on March 6. The Port Brisbane is listed to arrive here on February 25, to discharge general cargo from London. She will proceed to New Plymouth, via Lyttelton. \ The Mamilius is listed to arrive at Timaru about February 27, to load frozen meat, dairy produce and general cargo for London. The Valacia, from New York, via New Zealand ports, is expected at Timaru on March 10. She will discharge and load general cargo, and will then proceed to Dunedin. The Northumberland on March 13 and the Rumera on March 21 are . both scheduled to load frozen meat and general cargo for London and Continental ports. The Canadian Explorer and the Canadian Transporter, both from Halifax, are expected at Timaru, via ports, on March 21 and April 20, respectively.

Mr Kennedy is a senior member of the staff of the Union Steam Ship Company, having joined in January, 1877, and has completed 53 years of service.
