ANOTHER RABBI DIES. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, February 5. The death occurred this afternoon of the Rev. B. R. Pitkowsky, assistant Rabbi, at the age of 53. PETER C. LARKIN. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, February 3. The death is announced of Mr Peter C. Larkin, Canadian High Commissioner in London, aged 74 years. The later Mr Peter C. Larkin established the Salada Tea Company in Toronto in 1887, and since then.it has handled oi>e-quarter of the tea consumed in the Dominion. He was a member of the Royal Commission appointed in 1911 to study Imperial Resources. He was a generous donor to the Toronto Hospital and the first president of the Ontario Club. He was a close friend of the late Sir Wilfrid Laurier. He was appointed High Commissioner in London in 1922, and it was generally conceded that he discharged the duties of the position with singular ability. , , ... A message from Ottawa states that it seems assured that Mr Vincent Massey will be recalled from Washington to succeed the late Mr P. Larkin, as High Commissioner in London. A slim, gaunt young man is now in Washington as Canada’s first Minister Plenipotentiary. The appointment of the Hon. Vincent Massey to this new post was no “separatist” gesture on the part of Canada, btit the culmination of a plan announced some years ago by the Conservative Government, and approved by the succeeding Liberal administration. Youth, money, culture, and business experience are Mr Massey’s qualifications. He is in his forty-first year, is a master of arts from Balliol College, Oxford, and a former president of one of Canada’s greatest industries—Massey-Harris Company—which exports farm implements to all the world. The new Minister is of the third generation of a great industrial family. His name in Canada stands for intelligent philanthropy, particularly in the City of Toronto. The Massey fortune has greatly enriched education, music and community life generally. Born in that city, he attended school there, and was graduated from t>3 University of Toronto in 1910. At Oxford he won his B.A. in modern history with sec-ond-class honours, and later he received the M.A. degree. VICTOR E. CROMER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.)
