MACKENZIE A. AND P. SOCIETY. I A meeting of the Committee of the Mackenzie Agricultural ancl Pastoral Society was held in the Parish Hall on Friday. There were present:—Messrs G. Morris (president), T. F. Bussell, A. Dorman, A. Grant, W. Snushall, W. G. Black, T. B. Crampton, S. K. Gillingham, A. Mackenzie, W. Scott, C. J. Talbot, E. Macdonald, H. A. Munro, F. M. Larcombe, W. Dorman, J. Sims, D. Fraser, H. G. Waters, J. C. Aitken, J. V. Shirres, G. Buss, F. H. Buckley, W. H. Collins, W. H. Cook. Before commencing business, Mr C. J. Talbot referred to the fact that this was the first meetir.g attended by their president (Mr George Morris) since his election to that position, and his return from a trip abroad. A hearty welcome was extended to Mr Morris, who suitably replied. Messrs S. Dale and A. Leask were appointed to represent the Society at the Royal Show at Invercargill. Mr T. S. Little, a judge at the last show, wrote making suggestions for the improvement of the judging conditions in the sheep classes.—Held over for the consideration of the Sheep Sub-Committee. Mr J. Bray wrote suggesting that wool exhibited in the riding exhibits for the Robert Leitch Cup be shown in the grease only.—The matter to be gone into at a later date. A number of firms and individuals wrote making donations towards the prize fund for the next show. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all donors. Mr J. Bitchener, M.P., wrote accepting the office of a patron of the Society. Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., also wrote to that effect, and offered a special prize of £5/5/- for the best type of horse most suitable for farm and station work:—(1) As a spring cart horse; (2) pack horse; (3) heavy hack; at least four entries or no competition. Mr Burnett was heartily thanked for his donation, and it was decided to add a class as suggested. Resignations were accepted with regret from the following, through removal from the district and ill-health: Messrs F. F. Neill, A. Hope, M. Sams, and R. E. Vincent.

The Mayfield Society wrote advising that the date fixed for the Mayfield Show was March 22. The Temuka and Geraldine A. and P. Society advised that their next show would be held on Thursday, 27th. March. The secretary of the Fairlie Bowling Club wrdte asking for the use of a number of seats, as in past years.— Granted.

Mr T. F. Bussell, treasurer, stated that the credit balance was £332/17/1. Since last meeting, work had been carried out on the grounds, gorse being grubbed and cleared. The following sub-committees were appointed to go into the revision of the prize schedule for the next show:— Sheep—Messrs W. G. Black, J. C. Aitken, J. Pollock, D. Mackenzie; cattle, Messrs W. Pickering, J. Loomes, W. H. Collins; light horses, Messrs E. Macdonald, H. A. Munro, K. Anderson, J. V. Shirres, S. K. Gillingham, T. B. Crampton; draught horses, Messrs W. Snushall, W. G. Black, W. R. McConnell. The following were appointed a ground committee:—Messrs R. A. Grant, S. Dale, T. F. Bussell, W. Scott, G. Morris, J. Loomes, J. C. Aitken and A. Dorman. After passing several small accounts, the meeting closed.
