THE POTATO MARKET. TEN POUNDS A TON. By Ttlt|rapl — Vrmrm Anoelttiui CHRISTCHURCH, August 27. There have been further variations in the potato market. At the weekend, September deliveries were quoted at £9/17/6 f.0.b., s.i. Yesterday the figure advanced to £lO/5/-, but to-day it is back to £lO. “Prompts” are worth £9/7/6. The Waipiata sailed for Wellington with a cargo of 9100 sacks from all southern ports, the Lyttelton proportion being 2300. Space was unavailable for about 1500 sacks, but these will be shipped by the Kawatiri and the Wingatui, which will load this week. It is expected that these two vessels will take about 8000 sacks from southern ports. Potatoes on these boats have been sold at £9/7/6. There is no change to report in other classes of produce.
