WAIMATE.

COLLIE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Waimate Collie Clubs was held in Pyne, Gould, Guinness’ rooms on Saturday. There was a good attendance, over which the president (Mr J. Mcßae) presided. The annual report stated that the Club’s financial position was satisfactory. The annual trials on April 11 and 12, on Mr Stewart’s property, Elephant Hill, had been favoured with ideal weather. Entries had been well up to the recent standard, and the work throughout had been of a very high order. A special short pull and yard had been included in the programme, and it had been much enjoyed by the spectators. It was recommended that something of a similar nature be included next year. Prizes for this special event had been provided by Messrs Clelland and Aubrey, and the • thanks of the Club were due to them for their generosity. Thanks were also due the Club’s many patrons and supporters, who had assisted with generous donations. Without such support, it would have been impossible to carry on. Thanks were due also to Mr R. H. Kaan, who had attended to the catering. During the year the Club had sustained a regrettable loss in the death of one of its oldest members, Walter Lane. The late Mr Lane had been himself a successful competitor at the Club’s earliest trials, and later had always been a very interested spectator, latterly coming from Timaru to be present. The sympathy of the Club went out to the family. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr J. Mcßae (reelected) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Wilcocks; assistant, Mr A. A. McKenzie; committee, Messrs E. Davis, J. McRae, J. Bryson, P. Mcßae, J. Gicks, G. Clelland, A. Ottley, A. A. McKenzie, J. McKenzie, A. Baikie, S. Dixon, J. Hendry, L. Dowthwaite, S. Kennedy, J. Waldie, R. Rickman, G. Cooling, I. Me- j Kenzie, C. Whatman and L. Childs. I Messrs J. Mcßae and A. Aubrey and E. Davis were elected a sub-committee to attend to the matter of the ground , for next year’s trials. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., for ! use of their rooms, and to all who had . assisted the Club in any way. * PERSONAL. j 3 Miss Ethel Hannifin, of Morven, is 1 on a visit to St. Andrews. 1 Nurse Kidd and Miss C.
