FEDERAL TAXES.
EFFECT OF HEAVIER BURDENS. (United Press Association -By Blectrle Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, August 20. The Federal Treasurer’s announcement of new taxes has caused a drop in some share market stocks, notably in breweries and moving picture interests. A leading picture man declares that theatre profits will be almost wiped out by the added amusement tax and tha duty on films. It is announced that work at a large Sydney firm’s workshop has ceased, and that plans for a huge new theatre at Adelaide have been abandoned.
