LULL IN FAR EAST.
Russian Activities Halted. NEGOTIATIONS MAY RESUME. (United Press Association—By Bleotrla Telegraph —Copyright.) SHANGHAI, August 25. There has been a distinct lull in Sino-Russian frontier operations during the last forty-eight hours. It is unofficially reported that negotiations will shortly be resumed to settle the Chinese Eastern Railway dispute CHINA’S STIFFENING RESISTANCE TRUNK LINE RAILWAY CUT. (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received August 27, 12.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, August 26. In an endeavour to prevent continual Russian raids in Manchuria and Chalmers, the Chinese troops have now removed several sections of rails on the Trans-Siberian railway, thereby holding up the armoured trains. The Chinese are strongly defending Chalanor mines, where observers state an excellent series of defence works have been constructed.
