In the amateur golf championship, Morpeth beat Bulte, giving a sparkling display, 5 up and 3 to play. In the first round Morpeth reached the turn in 37, four up. At the end of the morning he was 2 up, and 6 up at the turn in the afternoon. Whitton beat Morrison, 7 up and 5 to play. Russell beat Quirk, 4 lip and 2 to play. Apperley beat Dalrymple, 3 up to 2 to play. Nettlefold beat Sawyers, 2 up and 1 to play. Ryan beat Adams, 5 up and 3 to play. Winser beat Schlapp, 3 up and 2 to play. Hattersley beat McGuinness, 2 up and 1 to play. PROFESSIONALS. Mclntosh (N.Z.) met Spence. The former won five holes out, also the 16th and 17th in. He was 2 up at the 18th. Spence was level at the 36th. Mclntosh, putting his second through the green and taking five, was beaten 1 down at the 37th. Rissett beat Corry, 2 up and 1 to play. Howard beat Robertson, 7 up and 6 to play. Stewart beat Lefevre, 4 up and 3 I to play. McMahon beat Heard, 5 up and 4 to play. James beat Eyre, 2 up. TIMARU LADIES CLUB. In view of the state of the Highfield links after the recent wet weather, it has been decided to postpone to-day’s match until Friday.
