SALISBURY SCHOOL.
CONCERT AT OTIPUA. On Thursday, at Otipua Hall, the Salisbury School children, assisted by outside artists, held their annual concert. Although the night was exceptionally stormy, the hall was well filled. and everything went with a swing. The first item consisted of two songs, “My Hand” and “Vesper Hymn." Each child wore a jaunty paper cap, and carried either a brightly-coloured spinning disc or a large palm leaf. Items were contributed by Miss Winnie Ryesdale. Miss Joan Lyne, Miss Margaret Sullivan, Miss Nellie Brehaut, Miss Muriel Freeman, Miss Southgate, Mr K. Moffitt, Mr George Hutton, Mr B. Cunningham and Mr H. McDuff. The children’s section of the programme included “Hiawatha.” “Come Little Leaves.” ‘“James. James, M. M..” “Junior Poetry," “The Gypsies’ Camp,” “Ba. Ba, Black Sheep," “Newcastle” — an English folk dance, and last of all, the funniest item of the evening, animals from Nightmare Isle. The children looked very trim in their neat school uniforms, and acted very naturally and happily. Indeed, there was not a dull moment during the whole performance. After the concert was over, the ladies of the district dispensed supper, and dancing commenced.
