ANGLO-AMERICAN RELATIONS.
Mr Macdonald’s Visit. HONOURED GUEST AT WHITE HOUSE. (United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph- Copyright.) WASHINGTON, August 22. The Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay Macdonald, is expected to arrive in the United States on a visit to President Hoover between October 1 and October 10, He will be accompanied by his daughter, Miss Ishbel, and a small personal staff. Sir Esme Howard (British Ambassador to the United States) has extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to be his guest at the, Embassy, but it is considered probable that Mr Hoover will desire to have Mr Macdonald stay at White House during a part of his visit at least. The Washington Embassy has issued a statement to the effect that Mies Ishbel Macdonald will accompany the Prime Minister on his visit to the United States, apparently partially to emphasise the informality of the trip. It is reported that Mr Macdonald’s visit in October will cause the postponement of the visit of a British warship to Washington, but soon after the Prime Minister departs the H.M.S. Despatch wil pay a courtesy call.
