Harassed by rebel tribesmen, led by Nadir Khan and his brothers, and upset by the intrigues and disloyalty in Kabul, Baccha-i-Sakau is now making a desperate bid to retain the throne. He has offered a reward of £IO,OOO for the capture of Nadir, dead or alive. It is reported from Peshawar that Baccha's leading General, Khan Mohammed, has been captured, together with a division of troops by Taghari tribesmen, and the brigand king’s force has also been driven from Gardez, an Important point strategically.
In Ironic contrast with the civil war waging throughout the country, Kabul celebrated the eleventh anniversary of Afghan independence.
