PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE.
STATEMENT FOR JULY, 1929. The following particulars of the loan transactions and the new business reported during the month ended 31st July, 1929, have been supplied by the Prime Minister: — The loans completed during the month amounted to £518,421, making a total of £1,606,839 completed since the Ist April last. * Further new loans were granted to the amount of £369,045, making the total loans granted, but not yet paid, £564,327, while offers of loans less than the full amounts applied for amount to £121,007, a total of £685,334. Renewals of 42 loans amounting to £192,790, were also authorised. Applications for additional new loans amounting to £266,594 are now under consideration. Estates of a value of £771,271 were reported and accepted for administration during the month. On 31st March last the total value of the estates under administration was £48,334,790, and the new business for the 4 months ended 31st July, 1929, was £3,149,870, which is £769,507 in excess of the figure of the same period for the previous year. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 111 for the month. During the month 641 new wills, appointing the Public Trustee executor, were deposited with the Public Trustee by living testators, and the total number now held in the office is 64.682, representing an estimated present value of over £258,000,000.
