WOMEN’S AIR DERBY.
FOURTEEN COMPETITORS REMAIN. (United Press Association—By Electrie Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK. August 21. Fourteen women continued in the air derby from Douglas, Arizona, with nerves on edge due to the hints of sabotage alleged by four participants. Miss D. Earhart refuses to allow the mechanics to touch her parachute. Mrs Keith Miller nearly had a breakdown after her accident. Her 'plane is still marooned in the desert. She walked 18 miles through the cactus and returned with fuel. The mechanics are endeavouring to repair the damage. Mrs Keith Miller has re-entered the Derby, her plane having been repaired.
