SYDNEY’S “GAP.”
MAN’S THREATENED SUICIDE. (United Press Association—By Electrie Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, August 22. The police fear that The Gap has claimed another victim. Last night a man visited Sydney Hospital, craving to be given morphia, but this was refused him. Shouting, “I’ll go over The Gap,” he disappeared. The man, who was an ex-soldier, was seen in a tram going to The Gap. A search of the beaches near The Gap disclosed no sign of a body. [The Gap is situated just to the left of the entrance to Sydney Harbour. Here the cliffs are very high, and there is a sheer drop to the sea. pounding on the rocks below. It is a sinister spot, which has been the scene of many suicides. Cliffs around Sydney have been the scene of several suicides within the past few weeks.]
