[Three Swiss airmen, in a French Farman monoplane, equipped with a Gnome engine, hoped off from Lisbon on a flight to New York on August 18. The ’plane, flying at a speed of 96 miles an hour, was capable of remaining in the air for 50 hours. It was equipped with a collapsible boat.
