William the Third, a great stayer, winner of £13,578 in stakes, and sire of Wenkipop £12,175. VALKYRIAN comes from the same branch of the No. 9 family as Rapine. The great American racehorse, his grand-dam St. Natalia, is half-lister to the great mare La Sogesse, winner of Lincoln Stakes, Newmarket Stakes, Epsom Oaks, Derby Cup, and as his dam is, like Gloaming, a daughter of Eager, who also is the maternal grand sire of Paper Money. VALKYRIAN is a beautiful bred young horse, and also a winner in England. He met with a slight accident shortly after coming to New Zealand, and could not be trained here. He has got plenty of size and good bone. He is making a great mark as a sire. His progeny have won 29 races, 84 placings this season. VALKYRIAN is the sire of Idun, Orewa. Leitrim.
