ORARI.

LAWN TENNIS. The annual meeting of the Orari Tennis Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr S. R. Muff presiding. The annual report showed that last year the Club had a membership of 38 members, and had a very satisfactory season. The Club was still reaping the benefit of daylight saving, and it was hoped that the duration of this beneficial measure would be extended. Arrangements were in fiand to have the bottom court attended to this season. The Club had secured third place in the Temuka Sub-Association’s competition. Several Club tournaments had been held, which had materially helped towards the success of the season. Thanks were due to donors of trophies, and to the ladies for providing afternoon-tea on Saturdays. Receipts for the season amounted to £45/11/4, while expenses totalled £2B/18/6, leaving a credit balance of £l6/12/10. It was decided that the honour of being vice-presidents should be restricted to those who are interested in the Club. Mr W. Mason, who, for many years, was a member of the Club, and who had always shown a keen interest in Club affairs, was unanimously elected a life member. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr S. R. Muff, vice-presidents, Mrs G. A. M. Macdonald, Messrs W. Quirke. H. Killoh, and J. Peters; Club captain, Mr W. E. Cook; vice-captain. Miss N. Wood; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Brown; committee, Mesdames D. M. Lamb and W. Watson, Miss E. Earl, Messrs E. P. Chambers, E. R. O’Neill and D. M. Lamb; delegates to the Temuka SubAssociation. Messrs W. E. Cook and J. Brown; handicappers and selectors, Messrs A. Henderson, J. Brown and W. E. Cook. It was decided that tenders be invited for effecting permanent repairs to the top court. LADIES’ RIFLE CLUB. The Orari Ladies' Miniature Rifle GTub fired on Monday evening for Mrs Stevens’s trophy. The second shoot of the Orari men’s team in the B. grade of the South Canterbury Miniature Rifle Association’s tournament was held at Orari on Monday, when the team scored 745 points.
