TOWED INTO PORT.
DERELICT STEAMER RETRIEVED. (United Press Association—By Electrl# Telegraph—Copyright ) CAPETOWN. August 20. The collier King Cadwallon, which was abandoned with her cargo of coal afire en route from Durban to Australia, was towed to East London to-day. The derelict was sighted by several steamers, and in consequence of a report a tug picked up the vessel twenty miles out. Her cargo was burning in her interior. The bulkheads had held, however. Her engines, though under water, appear to be intact. [Fire broke out in the holds of the steamer King Cadwallon on July 12, and the vessel, which was bringing coal from England to Australia, was abandoned after all attempts to stay the progress of the flames proved unavailing. Before leaving the vessel the crew opened the sea cocks so as to sink the ship and prevent her becoming a danger to shipping.]
