THE WEATHER
Dominion Meteorologist. A depression has crossed New Zealand and is now centred east of the South Island. A cyclone is situated north-west of Norfolk Island, while an anti-cyclone is covering the greater part of Australia. Expect southwesterly winds, later becoming variable north of Kawhia and East Cape, moderate to strong and reaching gale force at places. Seas moderate in coastal waters north of Castlepoint; otherwise rough generally. Weather cold, squally, and unsettled, with rain in most districts. Snow in the high country, and hail on parts of the coast.
WILD WEATHER IN AUSTRALIA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright.) (Received July 29, 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 29. The State Meteorologist predicts further heavy rain on the north coast, with the possibility of floods. Sydney was drenched during the week-end, and weather was bitterly cold. Snow occurred in the mountains and other elevated districts.
