TURNED DOWN.

Sometime back a deputation waited on the new Postmaster-General in regard to B Class stations. Readers no doubt, know all about this, so 1 will not repeat. It comes as a great surprise to us to learn that the proposals were turned down. The Minister will give his reasons for doing so later on. Of course he was advised to turn down the proposals. The point is, who advised him? The Radio Record ie very pleased. They do not want competition. We ail know that competition makes keenness in business and makes for better results. As long as the Radio Broadcasting Company controls the ether we will have to be content with promises. The Government, last year, made a gift of £IO,OOO to an Australian firm for patent rights, etc. That £IO,OOO has to be paid back, and it has been suggested that the listeners will have to do the paj'ing. Why not the Broadcasting Company? The above Company can well afford to part out. They are the only ones who are making money. 1 believe next Parliament has some surprises in store.
