Success attended every detail of the Timaru Floral Society’s autumn show, which concluded in the Caroline Bay Hall last evening. The blooms, arrayed on the various stalls, presented a colourful spectacle, and the various exhibits were inspected by a large number of interested visitors who attended th show, both in the afternoon and in the evening. Despite the rain, which undoubtedly affected the attendance, the door takings were almost double those of the corresponding autumn show last year. Miss Law and Mrs Bockaert judged the needlework section. At the conclusion of the show, the president (Mr Geo. J. Sealey), thanked all who had attended and helped to make the show the success it undoubtedly was. The rain had affected the attendance, but it would do a great deal of good in the country and to the flower gardens. The public had been very liberal with their patronage, and the show had been a great success. Mr Sealey complimented Mrs R. 11. Rhodes on the fine collection of cut blooms which she had exhibited. His remarks, he said, would be incomplete without reference to the work that had been done by Mr G. S. Ridley in connection with the schools’ exhibits and the Hurdley Shield. He had gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure the success of this section. Hearty votes of tfidnkß to MY Ridley, and to Mr B. A. De Latour and his orchestra, wers carried by acclamation.
