MB. R. L. WIGLEY, Managing Director, The Mount Cook Motor Co., Timaru, writes: “The order we have just placed represents the thirtieth Studebaker car bought from you. “We have been using Studebaker cars since 1911 and at the present time we have 20 in U3e. One at Queenstown has a mileage of 121,000 to its credit, another at Fairlie has just reached the 76,000 mark. Both these cars run perfectly and mechanically seem almost as good as new. The car that we purchased in December, 1927, has already run over 42,000. “As you know some of the tourist routes covered by us are the hardest in New Zealand, embracing the McKenzie Plains, Lindis Pass, Kawarau Gorge, the Crown Range (4,400 ft.) and the famous Skippers Run, Queenstown. We run a daily service between Timaru and the “Hermitage.” We also run a tri-weekly service between the “Hermitage” and Queenstown besides other services at Queenstown, Queens-town-Cromwell, etc. “Our cars run over roads of every description, under all weather conditions, but the fact that we have kept Studebaker cars for such a long time speaks for itself. We cannot speak too highly of Studebaker reliability, and we are very well satisfied with the Studebaker for power, speed and endurance. ’ ’ MR. B. L. BLODORN, Stafford Street, Timaru, writes: “After having had nearly twelve months running from our Erskine Sedan, we must express our satisfaction with her sturdy qualities and our appreciation of her riding comfort. The ability of ‘The Little Aristocrat’ to hold to the road at speed, despite loose shingle and rough surfaces is a source of constant wonder. One of our trips may serve to illustrate this feature. Leaving Timaru on Saturday morning with nearly three hundred miles to accomplish by night we were under the necessity of doing the early part in quick time. The Erskine rose to the occasion and the first stage to Dunedin occupied three hours forty minutes. This performance requires no comment to anyone familiar with the roads covered, except to mention that my wife and self (the sole occupants) experienced the utmost comfort under all conditions. “We have done nearly eight thousand miles with our car and have never had an atom of trouble. She is particularly free from body squeaks and rattles and mechanically is even better than when new. We never fail to praise her to our friends, and have not seen the car we would prefer to our own. We have every intention of continuing to be ‘Erskineites.’ “My petrol consumption works out at 24 miles per gallon. ’ ’ WORTH HAVINC Studebaker's championship performance is without equal in America, and is endorsed by the opinions of prominent people in New Zealand, as extracts of letters in this advertisement show. :: :t No other car holds so many speed and endurance records as Studebaker. :: :: :: No other car offers so many improvements. it :: :: :i No other car gives such rest* ful tiding as the neW Studebaker with the new ballbearing spring shackles that do not require lubrication., under 20,000 miles. :: :: st ■ NEW 1929 BALL-BEARING ...... THOMAS SCOTT, Bidwell / Street, Timaru, writes: / “I am now driving my * fourth ‘Studebaker’ and I must 0 say that the best thing I have owned so far in the way of cars is my latest purchase, namely—the ‘Studebaker Erskine.’ “The ease of control and comfort is really wonderful, and the remarkable part to my mind is the way it holds the road at high speeds. “After running 1,500 miles I tested the car for petrol consumption and it worked out at 23a miles per gallon, which I consider is very good. ’ ’ MR. G. V. ROWBOTHAM, Timaru, writes: ' ‘ Since I have had my Studebaker Roadster I have gone over a good bit more than what the average car has to stand. ' ‘ Both as regards road speed, and continuous use in all kinds of weather, and continuous road service. The car has now done over 37,000 miles, and is going as well as it has ever done. In fact, every passenger who has ridden with me has invariably remarked on the perfect running of the engine and has been surprised to notice the mileage done.” “My average petrol consumption works out at 20 milec per gallon. I am firmly of the opinion that the Studebaker is a very sound car either for commercial cr private purposes.” „ MR. S. WINTERBOURN, 21 Craighead Street, Timaru, writes: “Both Studebaker cars I have owned have giver, me every satisfaction. The lest one which I have now had eighteen, months averages 1,000 miles per month. “It is a most comfortable car to travel in, and my opinion is ‘Once a Studebrker owner—always one.’ ” MR. A .M. COPLAND, St. Andrews, writes: “I am pleased with my new Studebaker Director Sedan. As you know, this is my second Studebaker and the first one which I purchased from you over two years ago was a beauty. After 16,000 miles I was so pleased with it, that I felt that I must have a second helping of Studebaker. “lam pleased to say the new one is beyond all expectations in regard to comfort, road ability, and economy. The other day I had a trip to Christchurch having received an urgent call, and I did the journey in a little over three hours, from my home in St.. Andrews to Christchurch. As I was in a hurry I stood on the accelerator and kept the speedometer round about 40 to 45 miles an hour. My petrol consumption worked out at 25 miles per gallon and on examination I was very surprised to note that she had used no oil, whatever. I Can only say again that Studehakers will do me.” N.Z.
